About Me
Hey there, thanks for stopping by! I'm Julian (he/him), and I'll be entering my final year of Maths and Computer Science at the University of Oxford.
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, surrounded by STEM. Moving to Oxford allowed me to study my two favourite subjects full-time, to a level of rigour not offered anywhere else. I have a keen interest in probability theory, machine learning, and their applications. This year, I'll be continuing in those areas through my master's project on neural-network surrogates for Gaussian processes.
What I enjoy most is turning what I've learned into something others can use or enjoy. Solving crosswords led me to writing them. Competing in maths contests led me to helping start one. Learning machine learning led me to building research tools and open-source projects. Looking back, that's been a common thread through most of the things I've enjoyed doing, and it's something I hope to keep doing in whatever comes next.
